What Poetry Means to ME.

I started writing poetry in my teenage years as an outlet of expression for what I was feeling at the time. Like most teens I had feelings about loving then losing love and therefore LOVE was the subject of my poetry.  After high school I stopped writing poetry for some reason, maybe life just began to engulf me and I somehow had forgotten the love I had for poetry. 

I recently found my way back to that ol’ feeling I once had for POETRY. I AM in love again, reading and writing as I once did and searching for poetry readings/slams as I did in my twenties. Remembering the days when I felt free, heard & understood.

Poetry is a light to this world, it means I get to share my thoughts, feelings and experiences in a creative way. It means I get to read other creatives beautiful work of words and expression that can inspire me to keep writing and loving the art of poetry. It means there is PURPOSE in my writing; that I could heal, inspire or motivate somebody in a way that could move them from darkness to light! This is the beauty of art through expression.
